  • Organising and Allotment Day Trip - advice needed

Hi I am trying to organise an trip for all the tenants on my allotment site. I have most things covered , I think, but have one major issue to reslove at present.

1.As a tenant orgainising such a trip is their an issue with insurance? I really am finding it difficult to find this out.
2.I belong to an association, if this trip was run through the association, again, are there issues about insurance i need to know?

I am keen to just get on with things but am being challenged by people who are very concerned about risk.

I would appreciate any advice regarding this or on how to plan a trip.
    Cheers!

Anything like that in our photo group, a disclaimer goes out saying that the organiser is not responsible for personal safety.

    Are you organising a coach?

We had a day out, we hired a minibus with driver . t if you are worried do as Zaz suggests and get them to sign a disclaimer . They are all old enough to decide for themselves

Hi guys thanks for getting in touch. I am hoping to hire a coach to go to the Edible Garden Show in March. Members of the association told me they don't know if they can be involved because there was an issue of insurance? so I said I would run it as a tenant.

I think the disclaimer is a good idea - thanks for that

Nobody even raised the question of insurance for us ......but I s'pose in this day and age when people sue for the slightest thing then it may be a good idea.

The coach will be insured, the driver will be insured and the venue will have insurance.

I can't see what point they are making.

Sounds abit like an excuse (by the other members)....I think its admirable that your doing this for your fellow allotmenteers.

Some people are so ...pedantic about stuff . Flippin'eck if they go on a bus into town do they have to get insurance for that....

I quite agree...unfortunately their pedanticness stops anything happening...barrier after barrier....it's exhausting! I really want to organise a trip for the the tenants who are by far the majority of bodies and encourage a bit more gardening fun!

HI Hans Mum, I've heard it's a big show. What were the best bits for you?
I can't wait for this trip. so far I have about 30 allotmenteers interested in going. The first time our site has done ANYTHING like this...so quite exciting! Whilst giving out flyers for this show I met an allotmenteer who told me they'd been working on the site for seven years. I've worked on the site for even longer. The alarming bit is WE'VE NEVER MET! This reinforces my view that we need more allotmenting socials!
