I had a CyKing bagless for years and when the dog killed it I got this one: Samsung 2000w

Virtually the same as my old one except it has plastic parts not metal, and it's so powerful it could suck the paint off the walls

We have a dyson, if any hair gets in it the drive belt breaks, when working properly, it makes a weird noise that hurts my ears. Outside of that it seems to do the job, but I'd rather have something like a Vax, or Aquavac, non-upright, that can be used for liquids as well if necessary.
Reason we haven't got the sort I'd prefer, OH does most of the vacuuming, so he has the sort he likes...

We've got a Numatic George. It's absolutely fantastic and I wouldn't swap it for the world. It gobbles up almost anything, can be used bagless, takes ages to fill and is really easy to empty etc etc.. Has a long cable, so it will do the whole of the downstairs.

Got it in a closing down sale for a fraction of the normal price. Know people who've got "Henry" and somebody with a "Hetty" - they wouldn't swap him either.

Used to have a Dyson, it kept getting blocked with cat hair so spent more time unblocking it than using it. Hated the thing. No good on rugs either, it ruined an Indian rug we'd inherited.

[QUOTE=Headfry;899044]I have a D'son, have had three over the years

As I posted earlier, we have an old Hover Junior which is at least 40 years old, and an old Vax which is at least 35 years old. Both are giving sovereign service, I can still get spares for both.

When it comes to Dyson, they have a dreadful reputation for being extrememly unreliable. OH had a conversation with the local newsagent who was trying to recommend the machine In about ten years he was on his third model. I rest my case.

We have a Henry and had a Hetty prior to that. Its really good, variable suction, long cable etc. Its bagged and agree with earlier comments that it only loses suction when it needs changing. We do find it hard work though and have considered getting a Dyson, to help our backs, but not after reading this thread

We got our Hetty from Cost Co a few years ago. The husband and Hetty fell out and Hetty lost a wheel. To cut a long story short, Cost Co don't do replacement wheels, but gave us a full refund no questions and we got Henry. Henry and my husband haven't fallen out yet.

Had two Hoovers over the last 8 years with the second one being purchased 2 months ago, the red "pet" 2300w one from argos for £75 in a half price deal they had on it (The first Hoover was the green 1800w version) The speed dial gets me everytime, its like firing up a jet engine

I've also heard bad things about Dyson vacs which was enough to put me off them. word of mouth is very powerful.

I agree with you scarletrunner, someone who can use a local, very loyal workforce to build up his empire, and then chuck them on the scrapheap to fuel his greed is not someone whose products I would be interested in buying.

I would never ever buy a Dyson. I have nothing but contempt for him. The Swindon workforce that made him his millions is cast aside like dross in order for him to make more money by transferring his business to the middle east.

                              Vile load of crap.

We had a Dyson. It just couldn't cope.

Henry has been the best of all the vacuum cleaners we've ever had. If he ever dies we'll definitely get another one.
