I went out to the back garden because I thought I could hear some one and no1 was there, I kept looking around and at the corner of the extension my dog was eating house bricks and now theres a bloody big mess, Im taking her to the vets later on because this behavior is not normal. Has anyone else experienced any of this with dogs ? is it normal? should I be worried?

You may need KY jelly when you take your dog for a walk
On the other hand she could become a brick layerLast edited by bubblewrap; 05-10-2011, 07:11 AM.The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

What breed is she?
It may be she's needing to chew something to get rid of excess/pent up energy. I would certainly recommend a Kong. Which type? Well, that's up to you entirely.
I generally tend to get one size larger as it proves more of a challenge to chew (as it's designed to be tougher than the size below) and there isn't an issue regarding the accidental swallowing of the toy. For me though, from what you've described (I'm guessing your dog is 'large') I'd go for a Kong Extreme - the black variety. I have one for Roxy, my dog, and she loves them.
Please do respond, and I'll be able to give you some other advice/tips. Just need a little more info!Last edited by Garden_Chris; 05-10-2011, 09:03 AM.Garden Chris

Living outside, after living inside? Why? Had she been kennelled all the time, it wouldn't be a problem. Many many dogs live outside, quite happily. But it is extremely unfair to bung her outside now! Is the new dog out there with her, or inside? All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

That's because she loves you and wants to be with you. The puppy should have a crate for his own safety. He can sleep in there in safety and comfort, and not have to worry about being mauled.
Are you at home all day with these dogs? Or are they left for long periods?
Two shorter walks a day is better for a dog than one long one. Better for their mental stimulation and their growing joints.
