Hi Everyone.
I feel like I have been hit by a steam train recently.
At 4.03am Saturday morning I took a call from my very destressed Mum screaming that Daddy had had a heart attack and the paramedics were trying to resusatate him as we spoke.
Thankfully we had freinds staying and so my husband and I could just leave the children sleeping. We made it to my Mum and Dads house within 9mins of the call, 3 miles away!
Since then we have spent every waking moment in Intensive care. Dad has been on life support, they have tried waking him and extrubating him everyday since sunday but he gets so anxious it is putting too much strain on his badly damaged heart, so today they will to a tracheostomy so they can assist with his breathing while he is awake to help releive the strain.
Yesterday he coped on his own for 6 hours with me and my sister (23 and 16 weeks preggas) either side trying to keep him calm even with a high dose of tranquilisers. My Mum is not good at that sort of thing and is still in too much shock after having to drag my Dads dead body of the bed to start CPR!
My Dad is 63 (well was on Monday) and fit as a fiddle, absolutely no signs of ill health leading up to his heart attack. The doctors are absolutely certain that if it was not for the fast reaction on Mum and the paramedics, they were shocking him and doing CPR within 2-3 mins of Mum calling 999 and his heart stopping, he would not be alive today.
The good signs are that he is reacting appropriately which mean any brain damage is minimal but his heart is only operating at 20-30% (normal being 70-75%)
We have everything crossed and we all hope he will make a full recovery.
I am stuck at home today with Little Munch as my husbands boss is an A***hole and has made him go into work.
Jeez.... I thought losing 5 chooks was stressfull
