See, that's partly what I'm worried about - tinting the whole experience with my childhood memories!

We bought one a few years ago. LadyWayne wanted one as they had theirs taken away as kids.

LW trying to make fizzy milk and covering the kitchen in it might have had something to do with it.

Ours has sat in the cupboard for a couple of years now, having only used it a handful of times.

We also had the Corona man in our little village. Word got around the child grapevine that if you were brave enough to go ask the old lady at the dairy (who owned the van) if she had any stickers, then she would either curse at you for disturbing her or give up the treasure. One day, we summoned the courage to go and ask and the door was opened by this hairy-chinned old crone who proceeded to give us the hugest carrier bag full of the Corona Fizzical merchandise like stickers, posters, wall-hangers etc

Was it 2p back on bottles?

With regard to the SodaStream, everyone I know who bought one - used it until the cylinder ran out, then consigned it to a cupboard. I think I remember making ice-cream floats for the children with American Cream Soda.

I'm sure it was 6p in the late 70s, but I could be wrong. We had builders in our street in 1977, and they always had loads of empties. They would also pay you 10p to get their order from the chip shop. I do remember that you could buy an awful lot of sweeties for a pop bottle or two, what with MoJos being 5 for 1p and Black Jacks and Fruit Salads two for 1p. There was a lovely sweet shop on the way home from school....The Pop-In on Northenden Road....Bliss! I once blew a whole birthday fiver in there. My mother went loopy!!

I drink lots of diet tonic which results in masses of placky bottles going to recycle/landfill - this is my nod to cutting down on the purchase of placky bottles

Same here - I was sooo jealous of friends who did have them.

Our milkman delivered bottles of pop (as it was known round where I grew up)- my favourite was definitely dandelion and burdock!

I want one like the pubs have, As I can never re-create JD & Coke at home to taste like it does in a pub...
Thought of buying a soda-stream for that purpose, but was advised otherwise.
