I wish everyone a wonderful bank holiday.

I do not hold any religious beliefs, brought up without a religion I find it difficult to believe there is a one all powerful god who created all and will be the judge of everyone. Saying that I do have a deep respect of other's beliefs and was horrified recently when a colleague asked me "what Easter was all about anyway, was it something religious?"
my reply, hummm... the crucifixion of the son of god? erm well.. maybe a tad religious ??

As a non-believer I don't feel it did me any harm being brought up CofE. We used to make palm crosses at junior school and take them home, suppose thats not done nowadays?

At this time of year I can certainly believe in resurrection - Spring is certainly starting to spring.

      Happy Easter holiday everyone.

          Hey Summer! Welcome!

Happy Easter everyone - happy gardening! Tomorrow's my last day of gardening for the easter weekend as we're off to OH family (a tradition similar to Christmas gatherings). Let's hope the weather holds well in to next week, for Mrs D and also for the remainder of my Easter hols (that said, I've achieved next to nothing indoors this week; the plan was always 'gardening if nice weather, housework and decorating, if naff.'

Welcome to the Vine Summer. Come on in and tell us what you're growing.
Happy Easter Everybody. Hope it is what you want it to be.
I only have one friend who sends an Easter card. I'm not religious, but it seems strange that the most important festival in the Christian callendar is almost totally disregarded - apart from Easter eggs - and most people don't seem to know what that's about. Anyway, have a great weekend everybody.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter. The weather looks to be settled so hope we all get lots of gardening done over the weekend.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I don't know what it has to do with a fella getting nailed to a treetrunk 2000 years ago but, If there is a God you could definately find him in that sunshine on the lottie this weekend. I reckon he might be that little robin that sits on my fork when I put it down. It is still amazing that a little seed knows and becomes what it should be with just a little water.(and love -isn't that the religeous bit?) Don't want to get too philosophical, but isn't nature gobsmacking sometimes?

Unfortunately the Easter thing means i shall wrenched from my veg by lunches with the outlaws etc.

I wish you all peace and good health. I thank you all for sharing your knowledge and for putting up with my ramblings and bad spelling(giving up smoking- so a touch of verbal dissentry lately)

                Welcome Summer.

                  Hello there Summer and welcome!!

And I too wish you all a lovely Easter .

'Tis lovely for those of us who get to see as much of the family as we can ( or want to!! ) over the 4 day period.
Spring cleaning our gardens and lotties and nurturing our baby and adult plants is, I suppose, like having an extended family and caring for their home/environment!??

                  Lovely feeling !

Hi Summer and welcome, I'm a newbie here myself and it doesn't take long to settle in.

No family and no visitors at all this weekend so no excuses for not gardening - well, market day tomorrow and have to meet chums and chumlettes for wine or coffee, so that means some socialising.

Have a great Easter folks - and if there is a God, she's currently camping out in the woods in my back garden, the light through the trees this time of morning is just magical, everything looks just wunnerful!

Now off out to plant my Winston potatoes I missed doing so on Good Friday.

Long may the sunshine last! Well at least over the weekend.

Happy easter to all, whatever it means to you. I'm a churchgoer (just to put me in context) and am involved in the music for services on Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Saturday evening - 8.00 p.m. This is a fantastic service - I love it because it has serious pagan leanings. There's a New Fire, lots of singing, candles, ooodles of holy water - it's all about rebirth, new beginnings etc - I can't help feeling that this is fundamental to everyone here on the vine. I heard the newscaster say this morning that Easter is the start of the gardening season - Har har. he should have been here for the last month as I have. People have been 'at it' for ages!

Have a good one, whatever you are doing. Me, in the garden muchly!
