As an IT Profession, From my point of view the only two contenders for good virus protection is Mcafee and f-secure.
Would not touch Norton with a barge pole (mainly because I do not own a barge pole or a barge)

As an ex-IT professional I disagree - you get more than you pay for with McAfee & Norton!!! I wouldn't be caught with either of them on any pc I owned...

Avast & AVG are excellent products that are easily used for home anti-virus use for free. Big companies that give 'free licences' to personal users of their products, there is nothing to be concerned about the fact they are freebies.

Used to use AVG but it started slowing my computer down excessively about a year ago and from looking at various forums this was a common problem. Took it off and uploaded Avast which was much better but do checks every now and again with various other systems to be sure nothing is hidden elsewhere.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I use AVG Free, always have - this review is good enough for me

(I don't use "dodgy" websites though, and I don't click on anything that looks suss. Mr TS "may" ~ I did a Malwarebytes scan on his lappy while he was away and found 18 trojans that McAfee had let through)

Shall we say "specialist" sites? No, that sounds worse than it is. Let's say "entertainment for grown ups"

I don't snoop, but we used to share a laptop. His sites were using the same kind of search engine that the Vine uses. One day when I double-clicked on the Vine's empty search box, I got a whole list of previously-searched phrases. Needless to say, some of them were quite clearly not gardening terms

                  OOOH, clown parties !!

I use Avast, after having been on AVG for a long time I updated simply because new reviews were out which indicated things had changed.
McAfee and Norton - well, suffice it to say, my brother's business is fixing computers, he reckons that they keep him in business. Just by how many computers they slow down to the point of crashing, never mind the viruses !
It's an arms race, and my civilian legs are too short for all this malware malarkey !
