Big sigh of relief. You could still get them for constructive dismissal, if you were minded to. It was featured on R4's Woman's Hour today (8 Nov). Listen again here

Best thing to do now is decide the best way to 'describe' how and why you left your job, what will you say - needs to be focussing on positives and on you...Last edited by smallblueplanet; 08-11-2011, 05:42 PM.To see a world in a grain of sand

Just had a chat with OH about how to describe your resignation (and also them concurring that you could probably do them for constructive dismisal).
If you're sure about them not continuing with the disciplinary then you could put something about resigning your post because of disagreeing with management over issues over under-staffing/resourcing. Make it clear you resigned for ethical reasons and if they asked for more say 'don't think it appropriate to comment on particulars of another company's working practices'. You had a good career history with them so there's plenty to back up 'your positives'. When a reference is called for by your 'next employers' then the last lot aren't allowed to mention any sort of disciplinary procedure as it 'never happened'. References nowadays can only really give 'statements of fact' - how long you worked there, what grade, where, what your job was...
Good luck.To see a world in a grain of sand

I predict your next jobs advice thread Mrs Dobby is going to be along the lines of,
"I've got a chance at two different jobs, what would you..."There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.

Lol, Snohare, its quite possible!
Thanks all for the advice, Ive been jobhunting for a couple of weeks now, 143 appliations have been made (anything that I feel I could do thats within the salary band I can afford).
Knocked back on only 20 so far (most of which were above my salary expectations), have 28 ongoing applications were Im in the process of being interviewed / shortlisted / 2nd interview stage, and have already had 5 interviews, with another 5 scheduled for the next week. Basically got offered 1 job already (as Assistant Manager, but too low wage for me to take atm, although they are now looking at whether they can increase salary banding or whether the Regional Manager has any Store Manager vacancies coming up that they can use me for, they've asked if I would like to meet with him in the near future!) and another job Ive been told I will be brought back next month for a 2nd formal interview.
Had a work trials for the Express Store Manager job this week, so possible final interview in the pipeline for that too!
Even had some employers emailing me to ask if I wanted to apply for some of their vacancies, one of which was WHSmiths, but salary band too low, although I did send them my CV and a covering letter back, so you never know!
Personally Im feeling great, no stress, have plenty of energy, caught up on my reading, restarted doing some Yoga, am feeling very positive and happy, hoping for some nice weather at the weekend so I can get to the plot and start tidying it up (dont want to leave house in office hours as dont want to miss the chance of a phone call!).
Thanks again everyone for the support, advise and help, it was appreciated!
The advisor at the Jobcentre was amazed at what Ive done so far, couldnt fault my CV and said he would be surprised if I am not employed within a few weeks.Blessings

Sorry to hear you've had so much sh*t, Suzanne. Having gone through 6 months of hell this year with redundancy, I know as well as anyone who HR work for. At our place we called them 'Human Remains', as they're the last ones left.
Hope you get lined up with something bigger and better. I'll ask my friend who works for O2 if they're looking for anyone.
