I get SAd so I have terrible trouble getting up. This morning I struggled to wake up by 8am, where as in the Summer I can be awake and in the garden at 4am and stay awake until midnight. When we lived in Aberdeenshire the summer days were so long, even if we didn't get the high temperatures, and I was wide awake. Down in the West Country it's different, but the bonus is that everywhere doesn't fade to depressing beige, it stays green and fresh most of the year. And, I guess, you get to look forward to those first green shoots of Spring.

I love the snow, because of the hush it brings to every day noise and the light it reflects and the sheer beauty it brings.

Not keen on the cold, but that can be combated with hot chocolate & brandy and lots of candles and lighting the fire, cosy sweaters and fluffy slippers.

Not keen on the shopping and trying to budget for loads of presents, but I'm itching to put my Christmas decorations up. Anyone started yet?

I hate the cold and rain...especially when it's drizzly and damp.
I hate the fact that more clothes have to be worn and they invariably get dirty quicker because of mud meaning three times as much washing at a time of year where you can't get it dry.
I hate getting up when it's warm in bed but cold and dark outside.
I hate having a shower and feeling freezing cold.
I love having a nice hot bath but loathe getting out of it.
        I hate dodging umbrellas.
I hate getting home from the short school run and having to change my trousers because the hems are all wet.

        I hate winter I guess!

If I had an open fire then I'd probably like that .....as it is I have central heating and as well as costing the earth to run it makes me feel poorly when it's on.

I love crisp clear days, frost in sunlight (especially a hoar frost on the trees), frozen puddles that are surprisingly empty because most of the water is in the layer of ice you've just deliberately stamped your boot through, and being able to see your breath in the crystal still air.

I love winter stews, which henceforth and evermore shall be known in our house as "blip blip and dumplings" (thanks Creemteez!)

I don't mind dark mornings because I've been going to work in the dark since the end of August and shall till the end of March when the Sun finally chooses to get up over the horizon before 5am. (I think this is something to do with physics - cold things contract, hot things expand, ergo, in winter when it's cold, the days are short, and in summer, when it's hot, the days are long )

I love sitting warm at the window watching huge flakes of snow drift down to bury the garden, especially at night, when everything is silent and still.

Oh, and fog - I love fog - that damp clinging thick mist that deadens sound and encloses you in a world by yourself - everything seems slightly strange and other-worldly in fog.

And going to the seaside and being the only person on the beach and paddling in wellies and overcoat instead of bare feet and teeshirt.

Christmas, of course, and not just because it's the turning point and the days start to lengthen. January next for the first snowdrops, and then it's but a hop and a step to Spring!

Hate going to work and coming home in the dark, and rain rain rain.
But love crisp days and snow, and the stark beauty of winter landscapes.
The dog still plays in the river despite the cold and pulls crazy faces and positions while we towel her dry.
And the contented munch of a newly bedded and fed horse while the rain powers down outside the stable doors and their ears steam dry in little wisps.
                      Wouldn't want to miss it....

I love winter, i love walking the dog on a crisp frosty or snowy morning with the ground all crunchy underfoot and me wrapped up in millions of layers of clothing. I love throwing snowballs for the dog. I love that my birthday & Christmas are a week apart in December. I love buying and wrapping all the Christmas pressies and decorating the tree. I love it when the garden is all dormant & covered in autumn leaves. And most of all, this winter i LOVE that i am going to have a ickle baby

I've realised that I really do hate the lotty in winter: just been up there 2 hrs weeding and picking, freezing cold, everything covered in mud, hands muddy, clothes muddy, nose running, hands too cold to work even in gloves ... I've now been home an hour and my arris is still frozen
