  • Mr & Mrs Duck

I would like to introduce everyone to my two feathered friends. This is the
5th year they have visited my garden in the spring. They arrived in the middle of March.

They visit my garden in a morning and again at night for their breakfast and tea. It really makes my day when I see them. Mr Duck even sits on the roof of our house quacking! Even the neighbours ask each day for a "duck update".

Lucky you DDL! I would love to have ducks visit us, but alas not so far (to my knowledge). Do you think my cats would put them off? Think the cats would probably be scared of the ducks frankly!!

Don't get any ducks in my postage stamp garden but the canal is only 50yds away. 2or3 breeds of duck moorhens & swans breed there each year.
Watching the young grow up gives madderbat & myself great pleasure.

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Lovely photo DDL. Do Mr and Mrs Duck have any babies?

We have two cats, Ramsey and Crosby who are house cats. Dexter doesnt frighten the ducks though.
I think they have babies each year - they come twice every day then after a few weeks they seem to take it in turns, and occasionally, together. Mr Duck quacks like mad if Mrs Duck isnt with him.
They also dont mind if me and OH walk down the path, next to the lawn, although they don't like it when other people walk past on the road.
I'll keep you posted with any developments.

Just super DDL. Thanks for the pic (glad you're able to post them again).
We used to have ducks visit the garden when the mill pond was still there (it burst the dam about 20 years ago). They were very funny at night when I could lie in bed and hear all their wee duck conversations.

They weren't 'talking' Alice - they were laughing at you! (we always say they're laughing, anyway - maybe that's just us!)

Hi Digger! good to hear from you! lets just hope all the slugs stay in the front garden, not in the back where I grow my veg!

Great pics DDL. I just have to laugh at the duck standing on the house roof.

You really need 3 for a set though DDL. Flying up the chimney breast wall, if I remember correctly!
