Whilst at Woburn Safari Park today we watched the elephant demonstration, during which the lady said that they produce around 500kg of the stuff there per day. She then said under her breath, that if you want any....

Could it be used on the plot?

An elephant is a herbivore so I see no reason why not? Stick a wheelbarrow under ones arse and you could fill it in one go! Lol

Oh my - a quick google search yields lots of paper products made from elephant dung - and a few works of art (Chris Ofili springs to mind) - but not a horticultural use among 'em!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

You can buy mixed elephant and rhino poo from Paignton zoo, about half our local garden centres sell the stuff- not tried it though.

Oh, and yep- you can buy envelopes made from elephant droppings. I used to work somewhere that sold 'em

The wild elephant's diet is extremely rough - branches and the likes so the dung in the wild is also likely to be rough given that the beast's digestive system isn't very efficient. Having siad that though, the elephant dung beetle seems to be able to use the stuff and domesticated effluents are likely to have a much finer diet. I'd be for experimenting
