I forgot all about mulled wine, and advocat, and baileys, and hot chestnuts......there's more but I've only just got up so my brain isn't functioning well.

That's not the same bottle of Advocaat that was circulating through all the Cardiff parties that I went to in the 60s, is it? Nobody was desperate enough to drink it and it got taken along to the next party each time - and rejected! I always wondered where it ended up.

Probably, it's been open for about 4 years. I read the bottle and it said best consumed within 6 weeks of opening.

Perhaps that's why I had a dodgy stomach and not the biscuits then?

you obviously weren't as committed to the booze as I was, otherwise the advocat would have disappeared within one party

Nobody was that desperate. We sophisticates were drinking Bulls Blood, Blue Nun and Mateus Rose, or Cider and blackcurrant or cider and cherry brandy when the Ribena ran out!

Saw some Advocaat flavoured truffles in Aldi t'other day. LadyWayne asked me what flavour is that? I couldn't pinpoint it. "Alcoholly" was the best I could do...

HW...I've heard Advocaat described as 'custard for boozers!!!!'

Snowball ( Babysham) and shandy were the only drinks I was allowed at Xmas as a teenager.
I really love an occasional Advocaat with 3 cherries over the festive season. Mind you- I don't think I've had one for several years!!!
Hmm- I wonder if you can buy that over here????

what better time to celebrate with an advocat?
my father used ot make us snowballs with advocat, lime cordial and lemonade. I still remember the resulting sticky spit from that....
