What do you wrap your gifts in?

This may or may not be a Christmasrelated thread ;p

So.. your gifts - if you do wrap them.. what do you wrap them in? recycled decorated paper? Cheapo paper? Brown paper? Do you compost yours after any events you give presents that are wrapped in paper?

my Brother in law decorates newspaper and wraps presents in them, which is a good idea imo... it'd not go down well with my family as they'd scoff at the idea.

Trying to be a bit more sensible this year, and cut down on wastage even further.

Tin foil, no need for cellotape, just wrap and scrunch!

When possible, coloured tissue paper (no tape) and gift bags. All reusable.

Alternatively, cheapo giftwrap. Still using some rolls bought in Jan sales over 5 years ago.

To store these rolls of paper in good condition, I keep them in cut off legs of tights (clean!)and then put them all in a black sack in the loft until needed.

Just had a cheapo idea! What about leftover wallpaper? Or a roll of lining paper and draw on it, or ask the children to stamp (on) it.

Nice and arty - sounds lovely.

Paper for me as a matchy freak I'm afraid. I do buy in the sales though. How about wrapping in unwanted material, silk scarves, etc. Easier than paper if an awkward shaped gift?!

I don't buy gift wrapping anymore. Brown paper, brown paper gift tags, tissue paper, jumpers, scarves, fabric.
I do still buy the shiny stick on rosettes because i like them, and use a gold or silver pen to write on the tags.
Fabric, I have a big box full of stuff I've aquired from around the place, including a massive duvet cover rescued from the dump and cleaned to cut up to use.
Brown twine for keeping things together, or white cord, or bits of ribbon and stuff also aquired from various places.
I also have a large collection of long socks that the heels have gone through, ideal for wrapping bottles etc

A cheapy embellishment rather than investing in the stick on rosettes is tinsel. I use approx 1" tinsel of matching/contrasting colour to the paper and stick it on the corner of the gift tag (cut out from old cards) that is stuck to the parcel. Wrap a little cellotape around your finger to make double sided tape.

Once attached, it doesn't look like a strip of tinsel, more like a little sparkly bobble. Hard to describe but doesn't look naff - well I don't think so.

I've not taken part this year (yet?). Have been extremely busy at home (doing house up/decorating, etc) so for once in my life have decided not to take on more than I can manage

I still have like 2/3 plants/envelopes to send to people here - eek !

When I'm organised brown paper stamped by either me or the kiddies,tied with twine and sliced oranges,star anise and cinnamon sticks to finish off.....the last couple of years,whatever The Co op have left
