  • This time last year ....

Himself tells me that it was this time last year when the snow arrived in Sheffield. It fell while I was at work and there was a horrendous journey home. Looking outside now there are clear blue skies, sun and it's quite warm. What a difference and long may it remain so

It still seems very warm for the time of year. Especially considering the weather of the last few years.

I didn't care last November, as I wasn't allowed to work. This year, however, I would like it to stay as mild and dry as possible, so I can keep working all winter.

It may not be as cold as last year as I type this but it is blowing a hoolie up here. Just came back from my elderly neighbours and temporarily tying down the roof of her summer house. She lost her hubby a couple of years ago and said to me "Why didn't I go first? he would have been able to cope with this" Really sad.

I remember it well; we took the week off to lay the bathroom floor tiles. I remember being sat in the carpark waiting for himself to turn up, to buy the tiles, with 6 inches of snow on the ground and having to clean the windscreen after only being in the shop for 10 minutes.

Gosh- yes Flo. We were only saying yesterday that during the first week in December we were snowed in!

At the moment it feels like September here!

I absolutely detest the cold, but one of my ponies is really suffering with this mild weather. She has Sweet Itch, kind of like pony eczema, which is made so much worse by the rich grass growth we've had the last month or so. After two years of remission, she's got the most bald spots and wounds I've seen since I got her, so I really need it to get cold. Sorry.

((HUGS)) to your Pony SL - my friend's Horse has it too, and lives out from Easter to Christmas, or he pushes the stable wall out by scratching himself. Horrid complaint to have, and to have to deal with.
