Abso-flippin-lutely! All Private Messages should have the same 'Report Post' triangle that ordinary posts have. In no way should PMs ever be used to continue an argument, or say anything that you would be moderated for on the open forum! That makes me really when people think they can do that.

It makes me more when people don't report them to allow us to take action.

If any member of the vine resorts to that sort of behaviour there can only be one course of action. Gone Forever and I am sure our mods would be only too happy to oblige.

As has been said before this seems to be one of the few places today where one can have a discussion on a sensitive subject without someone throwing their rattle out of their pram and long may it continue.

T_S, I don't doubt that you can give any eejit troll a sound thrashing but what if they're also PMing other members who may not have your resources? It does us all a favour if nasty folk are got rid of.

That's fair enough, but if the person doing it has been previously warned for similar behaviour, we could reet do with knowing about it happening again, and you wouldn't necessarily know about any previous breaches of the rules...

I've just read this, posted by the poet and former Children's Laureate Michael Rosen on his Facebook page. A very astute man.

"Hello, I'm very rich and today I want to talk to you about time. Yes, odd thing for a very rich person to want to talk to you about, but bear with me. I'm interested in time because time is on my side. This is how it works. In good times, I'm rich and most of the rest of the people who aren't as rich as me don't mind too much not being rich because they've got jobs. In fact, they're poor, they're on crap wages while I'm very, very, very rich. Then suddenly, whoopsy daisy, things get bad. Now people get angry about being poor. Oh dear me, yes. So, what we have to do is keep explaining how they've got to help get things get better and the way they've got to help is by getting poorer. You see that? What we're telling them is that they've got to help. We don't say they've got to help me. We talk about something called 'the economy'. Or Britain. Or Europe. In fact, it's me, they're helping. But for them, we con them into thinking that things will get better some time later. But it doesn't really ever get better. We just tell them that, so that we can stay rich. All the time.
