Garden used as an animal toilet......help

I am moving into a new house with garden have spent some time digging beds in the garden which has not been used as a garden for about 20 years. It has however been used by all the animals in the area foxes, dogs, cats as a toilet. Every time we venture into it we tread in the stuff and cant see how we can grow veg yuck. We are putting up a fence and tidying up, is there anything we can put down to make them look for a new venue

I've used cheap curry and chilli powder in the past to keep nextdoors cat out of our flower beds at home it worked no little parcels waiting for my when weeding

Chilli is good and also many other strong smells. I've used old tea bags with citronella oil or olabas oil sprinkled on them. Keep moving them around as the animals do get used to where they are and find ways round them.

rose bush cuttings, or holly bush cutting stuck half out of the ground......maybe a gun?

Just having you around and working in the garden should keep a lot of the critturs away, I would think.

Have you tried watering around the boundry with ***** fluid? I Have found this quite effective in the past

Many thank for all the suggestions. The garden is quite large so will need alot of chilli powder etc. They seem to come at night and the fact that we have been in the garden makes no difference. We have seem at least 6 different cats during the day and one fox that was huge. Also our 2 daxis seem to think that eating it is the most delicious thing they have ever tasted (sorry to be so gross) why do they do that. The garde is full of old brambles wire posts and rubbish which they just all stroll through like a walk in the park.

Perhaps when the brambles and rubbish are cleared, and you have more open space, the invaders will be less inclined to visit. Can you identify where they get in to the garden and block off those entrances? Male urine is also supposed to deter foxes so get someone to wee around your boundaries. How big a plot did you say?!!

they eat it because cats dont digest as fully as dogs for example, so it still smells and probably tastes [yuk] like food.

Just a very large back garden/waste tip. Just told my husband he has to wee all round the garden and he said 'oh the neighbours will love that' ,hee hee
Thinking of inviting the local hunt to parade through the garden to see all the foxes
