. i would all go as a family, save one lift pass and sit drinking hot wine all day while telling people i hurt it on a black run! injury and skiing go hand in hand, im sure she will find another crutch buddy soon enough. and she can keep a table for those bust lunchtimes.

Oh no, nightmare for you. my OH has broken a bone in his hand and dislocated his middle finger...... on the dry ski slope. Him and daughter are off to Austria....... in Feb...... skiing, but they are going by coach along with 43 others. I am being sensible and staying home as I have no desire to go on the slopes and as everyone on the trip will be doing just that, I would have no one to slope off with.
Hope you get it sorted, if you dont want to go skiing then see if you could transfer for another holiday somewhere warmer at the same time of year.

I think we've discounted going skiing, as there is just the three of us going, me, OH, and DD age 6. Without OH on the slopes its not going to be much of a holiday for us either.

We can change and go somewhere else, but you have to pay £35 per person per flight so it works out as an additional £210 on our flight costs, and when you look to change most alternative destinations are about £350 quid total, not the £1270 we've already spent. So I find myself asking which is the better of two evils, spend more to save £150 off my £1270 already spent or right it off altogether.

They have you by the short and curlies, I asked whether I could add additional passengers upto the value but that's not allowed, so now I'm left looking for a summer holiday destination that costs £1200 to get to. Odd isn't it I'm now looking for expensive flights from a budget airline to ensure they get the least out of me as possible!!!!

As others have said our insurance won't cover it, technicality.!! To top it off OH had complications when she broke her toe and spent some time on Warfarin, we still don't know yet whether they will want to operate on it. 14 weeks so far, and it might be a further 6 weeks before we discover whether they will operate or not.

ARHHHH.....Airlines......Hospitals.......holidays........!!

Sorry I'm venting, you peeps are always so positive and supportive, I'm naturally gutted I was really looking forward to going skiing, and I have contemplated leaving the OH behind but my conscience got the better of me.

I agree. Go on your family holiday. She'll have some lovely walks in the snow if nothing else and she can do the après-ski sitting down. Hic!

I see your point as it's just the 3 of you. I would still find an alternative holiday. It sucks that you have to spend a little more, but I think you'll all need a holiday to get over the disappointment. You've got my sympathy. My Christmas plans are up the chute due to my broken arm.

There must be someone you can sell it to, for more than the cost of the alternative holiday you plan to take instead. Changing names on tickets is not usually too expensive. That way at least it isn't the airline that will profit.....

HB, to change a name is £40 per person per flight so £240. The negative to that is where do you sell them, as I'm not Atol registered Martins money says you are not permitted to sell them on ebay!!. Short of asking everyone I know its seems pointless.

I wasn't overly keen on budget airlines before, now I positively hate them.

A suggestion! If all those of you whose holidays are wrecked because of broken limbs got together, the fit ones could go skiing and the broken ones could stay here and have a party. When they're fit, they have a holiday and those who skiied stay home and party! Just a thought rattling around in my tiny warped brain

Just chuck all the tickets in a hat and see who you go skiing with. Its a bit like a seed swap with suitcases.

One of my teenage daughters would happily travel with you if you paid for them! - they could childmind your daughter for you, and ski with her and you could do serious skiing in the mornings and spend the afternoons with your OH 'resting'.
