There are restrictions on bonfires under one of the old Highways Acts, it depends on how close they are to the road.

Down here we are prohibited from having bonfires after 15 May until 15 October I think because there are usually drought restrictions in place and because the woods and forests round here get so dry. Tho many people ignore it of course as they try to do with watering their grass but the water company helicopters usually sort them out.

I'm sure Haze and I are happy for you to adjudicate this one. There is a glass of red riding on it. At the moment the omniscient supermod says it's not a stick of rock.

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Wasn't much smell of a fire at all unless you were putting the bits into the brazier.
Don't your council take "organic" waste at it!s tip. Ours(Charnwood) composts garden waste & sells it!

I know what you mean about bonfires but you do have to burn rubbish sometimes.

Our council doesnt collect green rubbish we do take some of it to the dump when we can.

I always wait till 8pm before liting up.

My neighbour often burns her rubbish in the evenings and I know that she has had a letter from the council as one or more of the neighbours have complained.

Love to recyle my stuff but quite often there's so much of it and despite the local commune being very pro-recycling/composting, every time we visit the dechetterie the commune is charged 6,50 euros which is charged against our council tax.

I heard that repeatedly urinating on them kills trees (just don't get caught doing it!)
