Just how do you think the above came about???? You take them as your right but they were hard faught for by our parents, grand parents and great grand parents.
My point exactly, they need to strike for much longer than one day to hope to achieve anything.

I thought Cardiff would be busy. All those "strikers" making the most of a shopping day.The buses are supposed to be not running but I wonder whether the parking wardens are on strike too? I'm staying at home, whatever.

The carpark, usually not full that I can see from my window (and use to park in myself) is rammed. Traffic is terrible, I guess everyone is driving!

I spent the day collecting holly & ivy for teachers' wedding on Sat; they would've spent the day catching up on marking & prepping

Been at work all day (monitoring the impact the strike had on campus actually)... off to a networking event tonight...

I was never going to strike anyway.

Almost the same in Liverpool and Newcastle. More in Belfast......ridiculous and nepotism and religious discrimination are rife.

I have been (hard) at work today keeping the NHS going. In reality we probably over reacted in some areas and capacity was there for normal working, however in some small key areas it wasn't so normal was not possible. I do feel that 3 years of no pay rise plus 2 capped at 1% plus an increase in pension contributions does give pause for reflection. In my case it is do I retire now, next year or in a couple of years after that? There could be a mass exodus, but is that a bad thing when there are so many unemployed youngsters? Back tomorrow looking forward to the start of the "catch up" phase......
