In regards to psychology I work in sales and people 'prefer' 7's and 3's.

I would suggest one jar for 1.97 and 3 for a fiver.

      Hope this is some help

That's very interesting Si. However, £1.97 doesn't appeal to me as it looks like a cynical way to undercut the competition. I also hate having tiddly little 1p's in change. I'm a round pound person myself!

I can understand the psychology of a penny off when we are talking £599.99 as you are still saying five hundred not 6 hundred. When it comes to 1 or 2 pounds does that really create the same mental picture.

I like the sound of the Churches cartel, if you undercut them do they bring in the heavies, or the WI.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

So why have I never seen anything priced at £1.97, or £4.97 ? *puzzled*

You will see it quite often in Sainsburys on dvds and computer games in particular.

I quite often see 39.97 or certain items for 97p per certain weight.

You do see alot of 3 for 2 offers though!

I'll be on the lookout for 97p items from now on. I seem to remember that Morrisons sell off items close to sell by date with a 7p price but I assumed it helped them to differentiate a reduced item from a full price one. Wrong again!

Really? Can you give it away in exchange for a donation of £2? Just my devious mind at work here!
