Bird identification;

I saw a bird this morning that I didn't recognise - It was all white, looked like a heron but smaller, and had very yellow feet. Bright yellow.

What is it? Oh, it was on a mill pond in Norfolk.

I've seen them around here too - even one in the field at the back of the house. It was quite a surprise for both of us!

Pretty aren't they? We get them up here and I used to see them in Shoreham too

We have them at Otmoor in Oxfordshire, they are beautiful.

They were pretty well extinct in England since Victorian times, Used as decoration for ladies hats! Happily they have made a come-back over the last thirty years.
Always thrilling to see one though we have lots in South Devon.

Could be a cattle egret - they are a bit smaller and slightly more miserable looking!

My husband dragged me all over the place as he was trying to photgraph the egrets in Britain... then we went to Florida and they are as common as pigeons . I remember thinking we should have just gone there originally , would of saved me hours of boredom!
