  • Butterflies!

Spent a few hours in the garden in yesterday's lovely sunshine and was surprised to see two Red Admirals flitting around.

My two kiddies went on a lady bird hunt. When they asked for an insect pot I thought they were mad but it turns out they found quite a few.

Red Admirals were mentioned in the "climate change" special in the paper this weekend. The warming climate is making them appear late (or early? I forget which)

            I found it:
In mild winters, Red Admirals can sometimes be found overwintering in the south and west of England. On cold days they rest, emerging on warm sunny days to feed and drink - unless they can do so at regular intervals they do not survive here. Red Admiral

I often find Red Admirals overwintering in the house. - usually around the windows or in a corner of a room near the ceiling. Must have a look around and see if I can spot any this year.
