After all the excesses of the last few days then the numerous sarnies, curries etc made with those excesses, what a pleasure it is to sit down with one of my favourite meals...........egg n chips!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
Egg'n chips. Mmm. That takes me back to my childhood. We'd bring eggs back from Plymouth market and they would almost all be double yolkers. Haven't seen one of those in years.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right. Edited: for typo, thakns VC
No eggs here, but we're still eating lotty veg. It's sprout & Stilton soup tonight
Nom Nom! We had just managed to finish a large chunk of Stilton that Mr.G had bought, when we were given two for Christmas. So it is on the menu quite a lot here. I love the indulgence of 'bad' food at Christmas, but I'm always relieved to get back to 'normal' food again after a week or so. By then my weight has always crept back up.
Dad had leg of lamb for his Christmas dinner, and gave me the bone with a lot of meat left on it for the dog. So, I've made a big pan of broth with it before giving it to the dog It's got onions, leeks, celery, swede, carrot, parsnip, cabbage, kale, beans and potatoes in it, as well as pearl barley and bits of meat.
Tis bloomin delish., and the leeks, swede, celery, parsnip, cabbage and kale were all fresh off the plot so should be really nutritious too
We 'detoxed' yesterday - burritos with copious amounts of salad, followed by a tropical fruit salad, and a light soup for lunch today.
It does feel better not to feel so sluggish etc though
We did consider egg 'n' chips (real chips in the chip pan and the egg done in there after as well, mmmm poached in chip fat) but we had fishfinger butties which were brill. Then my daughter visited us with a turkey pie she'd made. Needless to say, it's going in the freezer for a couple of months!
I like eggs, don't get me wrong, but the white and yellow MUST be mixed up or else they're disgusting.
Floppy, flaccid rubbery white and gloopy, sticky yellow with a ring of jelly stuff - that's a fried egg! Yuk.
Omelette and chips - love it!
Thank you for that Sarz. I was worried that I might be alone in this. The yolk makes me think of an unformed chick and I just cannot eat it when that thought is running around my addled brain.
