Don't get me started on this one...

The park and footpath which embrace our site are "divided responsibility" areas.
Our site belongs to the Town Council.
Round Bins belong to the Town Council.
Square Bins belong to the District.
The Park belongs to the District.
The Footpath and Cycleway belomg to the County.
The Ditch belongs to the Environment Agency / Thames Water / the District.

and guess what happens when you ask for litter to be removed/

Oh yes, buck passing and when pressed (HARD) just "their bit" gets done.

An iron garden roller is still in the ditch three years after first complaining.
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.

what I can't understand about fly tipping is why, when you've got a fridge or double bed into/onto your car would it be any easier/quicker to drive several miles to a country layby and dump it than to take it to the town tip?

Sorry you've got me going again....
What ever happened to the old adage : don't sh1t on your own doorstep?

People these days don't seem to think that their environment is any responsibility of theirs. Its part of the whole thing about taking responsibility away from people We are being encouraged to believe that we are not capable of anything any more.

It's all part of the madness, like forcing people to use the crossing lights, since we are not considered adult enough to cross the road by ourselves.

People don't speak to neighbours any more, and end up relying on ASBOS instead of communicating. Years ago if you had a noisy inconsiderate neighbour who would not stop, Tchaikovskys 1812 at 5am, full volume against the wall usually did the trick. Now we rely on Asbos! We are scared to speak to kids for fear of being accused of paedophilia. The little darlings have 'rights' and know that they can make false accusations and ruin lives, so we shun them.

Altogether we are being being conditioned to believe that the world is not our responsibility. And the government wonders why people don't have a sense of 'community'!!!

I'm with you MB...I'm sorry to say I'm a professional troublemaker...! Always onto the council/businesses about this and that. It's never their problem, is it? Like when our greenhouses got smashed by kids from the high school next door, it wasn't their responsibility because it was 'after hours'.

I do my bit...I pick up litter every day, I sweep broken glass off our bike lanes, every day, because I have this weird feeling of social responsibility, of 'setting an example'... fat lot of good it does, at the end of the day (sorry, I had a crappy one)
