Would have stuck this on the GR Thread if I'd known it was coming down so imminently which I didn't expect( as last year's just faded away). That was such a hugely entertaining and challenging thread. Entertaining for the quality of the wit and challenging for it being almost impossible to get anyone to follow the route I tried to chase them down but entertaining because of that also. Well done for sticking the thread up to start with and also to everyone else who kept it going. Over 760 posts this year as opposed to 315 last year so clearly not only me who enjoyed.

The Gardener's Rest usually fizzles out over Christmas week, presumably as folk are busy elsewhere, and it generally gets closed on or before New Year, so I was surprised to see it still plodding on this time. I wasn't 'here' for the first couple of years, so it was a complete surprise to me when I first discovered it, and what a fantastic idea it is - I'd love to know whose idea it was, does this happen on any other Forum? Last year I let my Husband read a few pages of it, and he laughed himself silly. Bless! All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

It's my first year on the vine and I found the GR hugely entertaining. It's so nice to find a crowd of people with a sense of humour that twists around just like mine does, (but better!), and can follow a post with another that still makes sense but nevertheless makes a complete 90 degree turn.

There's a pub five minutes down the road called the Gardener's Rest at Neepsend in Sheffield (yes really, google it if you must), it's a real ale pub which had to be refurbished after the floods we had a couple of years ago. I waded almost past it at the time on my nightmare walk home from work that day and I'd forgotten all about it making me smile even though I was knee deep in water. I wonder if the clientele in there are anything like us?Granny on the Game in Sheffield
