  • My rant is not being able to find the expanded polystyrene seed modules that have matching trays of "pegs" to enable 0% root disturbance. They used to be everywhere. If anyone has located any PLEASE let me know.

I have arthritic hands and find the sort that you have to use fingers to eject the plugs very difficult.
How can anything so perfect for the job just disappear

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

      • Getting up and finding the kitchen is still a tip from the night before

We supposedly have a system in place where the 3 of us take it in turns to cook dinner. OH is SUPPOSED to do the dishwasher, and Son no2 the hand washing up, wiping down the cooker and surfaces. I do the other kitchen cleaning such as sink, microwave, oven, cupboard doors etc. My jobs don't necessarily need to be done each and every day, whereas theirs do, but I have a lot more.

Yesterday Son no2 was on cooking. Me and OH had fish pie (cooked by me and frozen previously), whereas he did himself some of those chicken burger things, so he wasn't exactly stretched. If fact very often their cooking days seem to consist of defrosting and reheating food I've batch cooked.

When we had finished, OH said he wanted to watch something on TV, but would do the dishwasher before bed. Son no2 won't do his jobs until OH has done his. Result? OH didn't do the dishwasher, so Son no2 didn't do the rest. Today I AM NOT doing it, the sun is shining, I'm going outside.

        • Oh, this happens all the time in my house. The important thing is to point blank refuse to do it, they are trying it on. its why women divorce men so often, in my opinion.!

          • Coming down to an untidy kitchen this morning!! Dishwasher not loaded, some of yesterday's shopping not put away in the cupboard, dry washing on airer not put away, the usual kitchen pile of paperwork not filed etc etc.................... and I live alone
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

            • OH in hospital for a couple of days for tests. My rant - medical staff who stand at the desk and talk about patients as if (a) they are not present and (b) as if they cannot be overheard! My OH now knows all about ALL the other patients on the ward.

                    • My Mum and Step Dad kindly stayed at my house to take care of the dog/ chickens etc while we were away with the kids for a few day.
'Its lovely having an open fire, just hard work collecting the wood',says my step Dad when we got home.

Couldn't have been that B****Y hard! He's used all the wooden slats from my greenhouse staging as kindling! I'm so upset and he would be sooooooo embarassed if I told him!

                            • I wish the 'distance/radius' function on job sites would work...

It doesn't matter what I set it to (0-35 miles from my house), it still comes back with jobs in Manchester 50+ miles away....
I'd rather it returned a 'nil' response than jobs that are too far away from me....

I have got so annoyed with it, I've emailed the job sites..... argh!!!

                                Is it this cold?
I've had "the cold" for a month now, every time I think it's in retreat it gathers itself for a new onslaught on my throat and chest. Enough, already.
