No, I'm not seeing being made redundant (with no salary) as an opportune time to get pregnant...
Yes, we have been married 10 years and "still" haven't had children...
No, I'm not pregnant, I'm just fat. Thanks for pointing this out.
No, everything's fine thanks, all working correctly...
Yes, I do like children, I just don't want one...
Yes, I can change nappies and deal with babies, I just don't want one...
Yes, I am aware that my biological clock is ticking *don't EVEN make the tick-tock noise...*

Well, my (21yr old) SIL has told me that I don't know what love is until I've had a child. Apparantly loving my husband isn't real love...

You have my sympathy OWG - I used to get it too. I then made a point of makng the comments first, so they never got the opportunity. Comments like;

Sorry, I don't 'do' Children - I wasn't programmed for them,
Aaaah, I quite like Children, but I couldn't eat a whole one,
Children should be seen and not heard, failing that, put back where they came from,
and a whole lot worse comments.

Tell 'em straight - if they don't like it, tough!

When people say that to me I look them in the eye and either a) tell them for all they know I might not be able to or b) ask them if they'd like me to quiz them about their sex lives. Usually works a treat

Sorry for chatting by the way but it is blomming annoying - although I found after almost 14 years of marriage people are starting to give up on us they're starting to think I'm too old anyway

A close friend of mine gets this all the time....turns out, they both love and would have loved to have children. She suffered extreme eczema as a child(had to be wrapped in bandages), he is deaf in one ear....the thought of passing either issue onto a child scared them so much that they opted out....it really is nobody's business.

The JWs who tried to waylay me in the street for a 'chat' earlier. I'm not terribly interested in what they have to say at the best of times but hurrying along before 8am, in the pouring rain, with three increasingly soggy children in tow... did they really think I would want to stop and talk? Really???

Wanting to give my hideous teenage daughter a good shake and tell her that sometimes we all have to do things we don't like, try hard at school and then you've got more chance of being able to do something you enjoy when you're older. She doesn't get it....
