I like the new series - though the whole thing has been reimagined with just a nod to the storylines it somehow manages to capture the spirit of the old stories in my opinion. Not seen the Hound yet though. Easy watching too.

I now find myself looking for the Cthulhu crossover books on my bookshelf, getting the other (selecting as some are naff) crossover new Holmes stories and digging out the ereader for the old stories! Will be wishing I could get to the cinema next - the Holmes obsession could be getting a little out of control!

love the series and thought Martin Freeman was suprisingly un-annoying - hated the film as Robert DJ just seemed to mumble ! As for Jude Law I cannot bear that man ........ I'm always aghast when he wins those most handsome man polls.

                Repeatedly!
I don't like things being mucked about with, if you want a new story, write one. If you want to imagine that (contrary to all the implications in the original stories) Sherlock had descendents, and ultimately one of them met up with the great(howevermany) grandson of Doctor Watson, fine, you can make the story work that way, it's the only way I could enjoy a 'modern era' version.
Conan Doyle was extremely lax on geography (if you actually READ Hound of the Baskervilles....) and Watson seems to have found the love of his life several times (if you look through all the books), but as a darn good adventure of their day, any of the stories is great!

Having seen the second 'new' season, we've borrowed the first season from l*ve f*lm. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. Seen the first two episodes, waiting for the next ones.

So I went and found the complete works in my stash of books and text books. At least then I know which one is based on what, and can feel smug explaining to the siblings. Naturally, we all think Benedict and Martin are both classed as Dudes.
