    [QUOTE=zazen999;937025]

When I worked at CITB we had a team building day where one of the games was to go on the big machines around an assault course....I drove one of these [below left] round and when I leaped out at the end I asked how many ticker tapes I'd hit. The 2 trainers stood there dumbfounded and said 'none - do you want a job?'.

The 2 trainers stood there "gobsmaked" and said 'none - do you want a job?'.

I hope you gave them a piece of your mind......the sexist basturds.......

    Loving my allotment!

I always did the decorating anyway cos he's s**t at that. When I was 6 months pregnant he taught me to saw wood and use an electric drill. I fitted a curtain track and laid a carpet in the nursery to be. I was nest building and it gave me great satisfaction to get the job done.

I have unblocked sinks, been his plasterers labourer and decorator on various jobs. However, my collection of tools have disappeared cos he's took them to work or hidden them in his monstrosity of a shed to the extent that even he doesn't know where anything is. I can't afford to replace the tools (he would only do the same again anyway) so I'm a bit of a frustrated DIYer.

His input around the house is zero unless something is interfering with his general comfort. He hates gardening, which I don't mind cos I love it, and so far his input on my lottie has been a shed with no roof. He has the stuff to do it but not the motivation. I wish he wouldn't start thing he can't be asked to finish.

I draw the line at putting a roof on the shed. I did think about putting an old tent over the top but I'm guessing that wouldn't last long either. Anyway, I'm only just over 5ft tall and I really wouldn't have the strength to do the roof with the materials we have.

        Any advice please.
Give him his unironed washing. Provide dinner with the meat missing and just veg. Give him tea without milk. The possibilities are endless here...

When he asks why, "well dear, you have given me a shed with no roof, etc etc"

Alot of people think it's ultra hard graft on building sites but it's more repetitive skills than heavy lifting. A month of building that strength up and I'm sure you'd be well away.
Who can't change a tyre? Not you, surely?

Ha, just read back...always helps. Not you, didn't think so. If I waited for Mr VVG to find his gloves or to don his gloves before changing a flat, we'd be there a lot longer than if I popped the boot, got the jack and spare, the key for the locking nuts and got on with the job.

He was making such a hash of smoothing a concrete base for the greenhouse that I did it myself. He mixed the concrete, I barrowed and poured, then levelled. I like to think we make a good team. I wallpaper and emulsion paint. He's better at glossing. There are no gender defining roles here...just who has the time, will and patience.

Ok I stand corrected there aren't any gender specific roles.

Nope, can't change a tyre. If I've ended up with a flat, I've called either Mr OWG or my breakdown service.

I don't have the physical capability to tighten/untighten the wheel nuts (no pneumatics at the roadside)...and I'd never get in a car that I had put a tyre on!!

Don't get me wrong, I can (and do) lift over 50kg on my shoulders a couple of times a week, and I can bench press more than most women I know!

I can do a lot of DIY jobs - tiling, bricklaying, using a lot of machinery (rotavator, turf stripper, circular saw)

You should always crack your nuts prior to jacking the car!

I can crack two walnuts together in my hand, which bears no relevance to changing a wheel, however, it does scare men somewhat

I'm gonna try that next Christmas. (OH only allowed nuts at Christmas because of the shear mess he makes. I only like walnuts in coffee cake.)

Tell him you are going to fix the shed roof and could use his help to hold the ladder for you, gather up all the stuff you will need to do the job, and go do it.

                          • Ok, here's my two penneth........its to do with evolution.

Men and women had specific roles when we started on our evolutionary path as 'hunter gatherers'
Each was suited better to there respective roles, to ensure their survival at that time.

We have now progressed beyond the point of pure survival and 'he's and she's' can choose to do as they please now without causing detriment to the survival of the human species!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

                            Diversify & prosper

Yes I have and it's very good advice but I have to pick my moment. He can get a bit defensive if I point out his failings (Of which I have none). I might leave the gravy off his dinner later.
