  • local council - objections before cabinet member

We have objected to some new waiting restrictions and have been told that its going before a cabinet member. We have been invited to the meeting but I'm unsure whether its the sort of meeting where you can stick your two pennyworth in or whether you're just there as an observer. Anyone up on these matters?

Have a look at your local council's website Binley - the meeting dates should be posted there and should also indicate if they're public or not

Have you told your local councillor your objections and is he/she on your side? They should be able to help you.

We sent in letters of objection supported by our local councillors and recived a letter saying that the matter was going before the cabinet member. It also said we could go to the meeting but didn't know whether we can be there to speak or just observe.

Ring or email your local councillor and ask them - they should know.

Go to the meeting Bins, I would think you would want to be there to listen to what is being discussed, whether you can have your two pen'orth or not? I'm sure they will tell you at the beginning of the meeting.

Go anyway, if you aren't alowed to speak, and a whole load of nonsense gets put forward, you can put your 2 pennyworth to the local rag along with comments on the conduct of the meeting!

Yeah! Wot Hilary said! Wouldn't bother me if I wasn't allowed to voice my opinion - it's never stopped me before! Go for it!

We are having a lot of problems locally with parking.

The local council is about to impose a parking levy on all firms with over 10 spaces (Ithink). This charge will be passed on to their employees if they use the car park. Result all employees are now parking on the side roads.

I phoned the buldings manager and told him that one of the employees (a repeat offender) had blocked my daughter in (she'd parked in her boot) and she needed t get to work . Well she did , but I could've moved my car but he didn't have to know that. One employee came out kicking off about having to leave her desk(call centre they probably work on bonuses) well ......if you'd parked in the carpark like you're meant to etc etc.......
