Couldn't agree more, Jules! Every now and then I try and get him back through the doctors door to do a bit of table thumping, but he is so dispirited by their attitude. I keep telling him it's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil, but he says he can't bear to be made to feel a fraud...

Lucky me as well then by the sounds of it... I got left with a ruined disc, but that's better than paralysis or death

Creemteez, my professor was Professor Bird, a top rheumatologist based at Leeds Infirmary, who specialized in hypermobility syndrome, which I was finally diagnosed with at the age of 34 despite having been born with it Unfortunately, he's retired now, and I don't think he's been replaced

Have a look at the link in my sig., your OH may well be hypermobile too.

There, that's exactly how the BH feels. He says they aren't interested and do their utmost to make him feel a fraud. We changed doctors in November 2010 and finally got a brilliant GP, who genuinely had a vocation for medicine, and she was building some consistency with the BH. Sadly, that doctor left last August and, although we've both been to the surgery numerous times, we actually have no idea who our GP is now. We certainly can't pronounce any of the names......

Refreshingly, the GP on the panel today apologised on behalf of the medical profession. He was really quite aghast that the BH is still waiting for appointments, after almost a year, with the pain clinic and orthopaedics for his rheumatic knees.

Just after Crimble, BH went in to see the doctor about his painkillers (we need to watch for addictions) and the doctor suggested he joined the gym to help his back. I ask you!

The only enzyme I know of that comes from papaya (I believe pineapple has it as well) dissolves gelatin (which is why you can't make pineapple jelly from fresh juice), and I can't imagine why anyone would think it appropriate to use on injured skeletal bits. Very glad they have seen sense!

PS, also glad you got the right result eventually, realised I hadn't said anything about that just as I was leaving the thread!

Glad you got the right result Jules. Unfortunatly those people who have real illnesses have to jump through hoops just so that hopefully the ones who are scum and claim for whatever they think they can get away with will get caught out. Its not right and its not fair.

It's quite sad really that you have to be congratulated for something that should have been obvious from the start and that shouldnt have happened in the first place.

                    good result

It is quite sad, Taff, but it seems that the first recourse of the DWP is to say no. There are so many people out there who lack the support, or energy or courage to actually fight the negative decisions, and DWP bank on this result. And they make it a long hard slog - how people with mental health issues cope, I cannot imagine.

There used to be many local charities in towns and cities who helped with these claims, and it's very sad they had their funding withdrawn so that they had to close. The job was then passed to the CAB, who are inundated and cannot cope with the demand. Claimants can't get much needed help before appeal/ DWP interview dates and they give up. I'm sure the system is designed this way purposely.
