Cowslips, without a doubt. They always remind me of a Easter holiday we had in Devon as the cottage we stayed in had cowslips growing along the garden pathway. Actually, can I recommend these cottages to you - we've been back several times and it's such a lovely peaceful place and the owners are lovely (as is their black lab, Jemma!)

I love poppies too- just never know when or if they will grow ( well- for me anyway)

      Aye that's the stuff! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorse

      They smell lovely!

Looks like it's also known as "whin" not "whip" as I'd previously suggested! He he!

Oh yes, gorse. When the gorse is in flower, kissing's in season!
It makes a good white wine too!

Saw another of my faves today - ramsons, wild garlic. I think they look like magic wands with a spray of white stars on the top. What an imagination the child has!

I've been told that Japanese think they'e fabulous because they are so colourful and grow wild. We had a Japanese assistant at school - couldn't get over sight in April! Don't forget you should pick the flowers for dandelion wine on St George's day!

Wild orchids are just fab. We have a patch of fragrant orchid and OH stood on one by accident, we took it home and put it in a jar of water, and the single stem scented the whole room. I also love woodland flowers, especially solomon's seal and wild anemones.

A bank of pale yellow primroses...gladdens the heart when you suddenly come upon that down a country lane.
Later on the rosebay willow herb brightening up the ditches.
