Re Two Sheds post, (and how do I do the quote box?)
Most research articles are fine, but those quoted in tabloid papers are usually poorly quality studies, with results showing great bias, (if you unpick the sample/audit etc that has been used) I work in the NHS and it makes my blood boil every time the news/papers report the latest health scare without giving a balanced account of the subject. An example of this is the man who put panic into everyone with the MMR vaccine, his research was biased because it was funded by a drug company and he even fabricated some of the results but it caused a major panic, (even I refused to have my daughter vaccinated at the time) and had a huge impact. Remember that the news is reported as a headliner, and further investigation is always required before making any life changes........
Rant over....... sorry
I agree with you completely that most people are not eating a healthy balanced diet and not exercising. If only the push was for this to happen as a simple starting point and less reporting of panic style suggestions. How great would that be?
At least I was right on one count - there is no sugar in goose fat!! Sorry about rubbing it in, but that's what my mother always recommends for a cold on the chest!

Its something I always recommend to the ladies with a cold 'goose fat' rubbed in their chest.
I am going now.

I agree totally. Most people aren't able to wade through research though, so need an easily digested format. Newspapers are in the business of selling newspapers though, not always in presenting the facts in an unbiased way.
Anyone with a bit of sense can pick out the salient points, go off and do a bit of further research, and then come to some kind of informed decision.

Lots of eggs, I see - methinks you keep hens, Piskie - wish I still had the room. No spuds either then?
