      I know

My soil is sandy, and just not suited to radish, turnip or swedes

I've got some radish in Morrisons buckets in the cold gh, so hopefully I'll get something out of them.

I grow radish in the Tomato morrison bucket before the toms' roots get too big - just push seeds in an inch or so apart around the edge of the bucket. Also have other containers reserved for radish too - just push single seeds where you want them. It goes against my principles to use more seed than I have to
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

This makes me wonder how many people grow veg they don't like, just cos they can.

I can't stand celery...but I still grow it. I'm not that big a fan of cauliflower, but my first year of growing I had to try romanesc.

I have a terrible habit of growing with my eyes, if it looks pretty or different, I have to give it a go. Asparagus Peas spring to mind...
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

You're so right Mikey on lots of counts! I'm told by others that I'm in my 2nd childhood, but you and I know different, we're still big kids at heart and that's where it matters.
As for radishes, I'm not keen on those either! There are so many free packets around that I have to keep sowing them. However, when they fail because I ignore them or forget to pick them at the right time and find them later, woody, gnarled and wormy, I conclude that they are difficult to grow! I'm starting to feel sorry for all those uneaten radish now!!

I have tried many different sorts but always go back to the French Breakfast ones, find that the taste and crunch best every time

I have never gotten to grips with the 'plant a line of seeds then thin out' bit....what a waste, unless you can thin out very delicately and save the otherwise discarded seedlings.

Gardening with my eyes is the reason I don't read seed catalogues. Last time, I ordered over £50 worth of seeds and most had to be given away. I just don't have the room to plant all of the things I chose - beetroot, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, beans etc all in multicoloured hues - so now I just don't look.

I can recycle the seed catalogues without looking, but I can't walk through the seed stands at garden centres, they draw me to them like a magnet......

Yup, I can't remember what but it must have been decent for me to note it down. It might just have been this though, seeds for 29p time will tell though.

I grow my radish in cut down Morrison's buckets. I think when grapes talk about a watering issue they may well be correct. My pots stand on the side of my pond and when they need a watering the whole lot just gets submerged in said pond. I do it out of idleness but maybe its why I get a good radish crop.

Colin, you're a genius! I might try that this year as our pond has a sloping 'shore'
