  • Allotment popularity.

My vocal yokel (local newspaper) has small article about the surge in popularity of allotments.
"More and more have adopted plots in recent months with virtually all 411 at the nine town council owned sites rented out. Some 20 people are on the waiting list."

So where does that leave the TC with regard to provision, are they obliged to provide more as more than six people want one, or is 411 sufficient?
The town is growing every year and we have lost two large sites in recent decades.
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.

I don't know how many plots our local council (Charnwood) or how many sites has.
Two years ago you could get one streight away now there is a waiting list.
On our site has 24 allotments as soon as one becomes "vacant" it is relet.(3 since begining Feb)

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

        The more the better !
        About time ......
We'd better grab as many pallets and scrap now before people get wise and start charging for their rubbish!!

I'm always amused by people's faces when I tell them we have an allotment. Sort of a cross between amusement and respect- anyone else noticed that!!?

yes, especially if it is preceded by the statement, "I didn't have time to watch TV this week because..."

            Oh yes!

People at Mr OWG's work think he is "posh" because we have an allotment and grow our own veg (we never mention that it's in our paddock, as they'd really think we're posh then!)
