Just seen an interview with the young couple that have won the lottery jackpot. Seem like really nice people. They are getting married in September and didn't even have the money to buy a wedding cake. Good luck to them. Total contrast to that young yob who won a few years back

Nice to see some people who genuinely deserve the win. I do wonder why people go public though - is there an extra financial bonus from Camelot for it? I would keep schtum.

The guy is a young lad who works with his dad and his brother in the family painter and decorator business. Work has been in short supply and it's been hard for them all. My honest impression was that he wasn't particularly bright, (maybe unfair of me to say that) and Camelot should maybe have advised them to keep their heads down.

That couple that one the Euro Millions last year when it was a ridiculous jackpot said that if you win that amount of money then people will notice and it will get out anyway so by going public they are doing it on their own terms. Makes sense to me and to be honest the thought of suddenly having all that money makes me shudder, some would be nice but that would be too much, I like my life and wouldn't want to change it.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Reminds me of the old Irish story where the couple who had won the Lotto were asked by the reporter: "What will ye do about tjhe begging letters" ?
Replies the man dryly.." Ahh, we will probably keep sending them....!!"I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
...utterly nutterly

If you've won big, you really need to think things through before you tell the world; how will this affect your kids at school, will they be safe from 'friends', bulies and weirdos? How about your immediate family - people might target elderly parents of winners etc. The scenarios are endless.
An American once said to me that if he won (I think, at the time, their big state lotto was sitting at about $320,000,000) and he said say nothing, limit the greed. I think that was very wise otherwise it's like those holiday souvenir t-shirts 'My Mum went to Spain and all I got was this lousy tshirt'.
The couple from Largs, apparently, couldn't open their front door for begging letters by the time they got back from the press conference. I know it might come out eventually, but by that time the press have moved on, and there would be much less focus on the winners. I would love to know how Camelot influence winners to go for publicity.
