I didn't even know she took drugs etc - was quite shocked when I saw the news this morning.

Another dreadful waste. Her songs were the soundtrack to the ups and downs of many lives - yup - including mine!

So much for her so called 'entourage'. I wonder if any of them actually cared about her in the real sense of the word. It's very sad.

Very sad, I never really enjoyed her music but could appreciate she was a very talented lady....let's hope she's allowed to RIP without the media dissecting her life.

great genetic material, comfortable middle class upbringing. Why did it all fall apart? too much pressure, too much money?

Drugs. Just say no......drugs alter the mind which is not good for any one. I don't think that genetics, pressure or money were her demons. Rip Whitney.

I think getting in tow with the wrong man did her no favours either. I really loved her singing and have her compilation album "The Greatest Hits" in my collection. It's just a shame.

I have Whitney on full blast - such a talent in her heyday and such a tragedy that she succumbed to those demons we all keep hearing about... the others have left the room, they can't stand the noise but I am undeterred!

Her music wasn't really my taste but certainly in her early days she had one hell of a voice. Very sad that anything ends this way and you have to feel for her daughter who must have seen and heard far more over her life than is right for anybody. However (and apologies if this is controversial) I did feel that it was wrong for the news to lead with this story today, there are much bigger stories that could affect all of us and certainly relate to far greater numbers than one woman who has sadly died before her time, Greece, Syria anybody? I know somebody of a similar age who died a few weeks ago, this was equally sad for her family and friends but thankfully didn't have to be played out in the media.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
