Its raining here but I don't care because I'm going to learn how to make stained glass today.

You'll really enjoy stained glass work - one of my friends has been doing it for years - she's very good (and very arty - she paints as well). When I moved to this house 6 years ago she made me a little mushroom to hang in my kitchen window. I love it. Just watch you don't burn yourself though.

It was a taster day so we didn't do anything too complex! Most folk traced an outline on to glass in black - I drew a scene freehand (there's always one who doesn't do what the rest do ). This will be kiln fired. Then we cut glass (a first for me) and ground the edges (another first) then wrapped the edges in copper tape, tallow and soldered them (another first). So I've learnt lots of new things.
I also made most of the group laugh (at me - because they didn't have a clue why I was laughing). Then a lady followed me out, told me how good it was to hear people laughing and started crying A big cwtch later and a few tissues from my pocket and she put on a brave face and went back into the group! I did feel sorry for her, whoever she was.
Funny old day!!

It does sound a strange day! Did you not find out why the lady was crying?
Sounds as if you did quite a few things at the workshop today. If you take to the stained glass work, you will end up like my friend - she started with making boxes to hold tea lights, then mirror surrounds, then lampshades, etc. Ended up taking commissions from people to put stained glass panels in their doors and windows!. You could make a few bob to supplement your pension
