Safe journey and I hope the sun shines on you
Thanks everyone, I did get some sunshine between the showers but not enough to have a swim in the sea. But, here I am back - hope you've all been having fun while I've been away. (And if not, why not?).

Here's a little something for all you to get your teeth into (by special request of VC):

I even managed to bump into Ben Ainslee (Olympic Sailing Gold Medallist) while I was down there - he had the Olympic Sailing torch with him, so I got him to take a photo of me with it!

How is BigM getting on with his swinging? Or shouldn't I ask.......

    • Welcome back, LL and thanks for the rock. Its just as I remember it, making sticky dribbles down my chin
The weather has been appalling here (down West) and still is. So glad to hear you had some sunshine and excitement!!
Haven't heard anything about BM's swinging activities - he's very quiet and that's always a bit suspicious!

Sticky, gooey rock. Yuk - remember as kids we used to see how far we could stick it down our throats before we were nearly sick?
Yes, BM started to tell us about something a while ago that he was involved with (a lady griller?) but it all went quiet (despite me asking in a sort-of tactful way!) - now perhaps that's connected with the swinging.........Hmmm, let's see what he has to say.

          • I have to say, LL, I don't remember trying to shove a stick of rock down my throat, but I think we used to make holes out of the middle of it by sticking your tongue in and dissolving the rock. Oh no, I'm going to have to find some now, just to see what happens. Bet they don't make rock like they used to!

            • Talking of rock - do you remember that soft rock called Edinburgh Rock? I haven't seen it for ages but I didn't like it at all. Yuk.

We never used to make holes in the middle of ordinary rock like VC did. Apart from sticking it down our throats we sometimes used to break it up with a little hammer so we had lady-like small pieces to suck - wasn't half as much fun though.

              • My husband, being half Scot, used to adore Edinburgh rock - especially the Ginger flavour. Anyone going up to Scotland had to bring some back as well as some obscure single malt!!

                • Edinburgh Rock came in a little box (if I remember rightly), almost like a cigarette packet. You could easily get that rock to dissolve with your tongue! Didn't know they did ginger - that might have tasted better.

                  • Box or upmarket tins. It was always a mixed flavour box so we'd fight over who had the ginger - I always gave in of course!!

                      • Hello LD. I'm here but being very quiet, as usual! Nothing much to report, had to hack my way out of the house through the kiwi fruit which has doubled in size in a week. Everything seems to growing like mad, some parts of the garden are impenetrable! I'll leave it be until the apples are ready then get it strimmed before the apples start to fall.

                        • All quiet here LD. Bit boring really - just listening to the swifts screaming up and down the street and watching a bit of tedious telly.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
