    • This is why I live in a bungalow...

So subtle, Sno Wish I'd thought of this before I bought this inaccessible place

          • There have been mutterings about turning my garden into an exercise circuit - especially by the builders who've been carrying their bags of sand and cement up to the house!

            • All you need to do now is convince them that you are younger than them...give them enough bags of wet sand to carry up, and they will believe octagenarians are younger than them !

              • They've already seen me struggle to lift one bag of sand - anyway, I'm not an octagenarian (but I can go up and down 50 steps without too much effort

                • No, no, Veggie - the idea is not to make them think that you are younger than you are, the idea is to make them feel like they are octagenarians. Then you will seem 15 years younger...

                  • Aahhhhhh! I see. So if I doctor a bag of sand by filling it with polystyrene beads, but fill the rest with rocks, cunningly disguised as sand, then I bounce up the steps while they sweat, they'll feel ancient. There's just one minor flaw here, 2 of them are in their 20s and carry railway sleepers around as if they were matchsticks, and none of them do I fancy
                    Next plan????????

                    • Get another crew of builders in - and this time, wrap some lead around the railway sleepers !

                      • Last year there were 2 other builders here, excavating the front bank and shoring it up with sleepers. One of them thought he was just what I needed Actually, he was an overweight, overly tattooed oaf who stripped down to his vest and saggy pants at the least hint of sun. He'd arrive, call me Beaut, lunge at me to give me a hug while I ducked and dived and make me offers I couldn't resist, like, "I'll come round one evening and we'll go for a jar"!! After a few days of this, I used to make sure my neighbour was around when they arrived as protection!
The week they were finishing the builder said he had something he wanted to give me, to remember him by. That was so worrying!! It turned out to be his.........wait for it.........
old bottle collection What a relief..and I think I managed to refuse it without upsetting him too much
You chaps don't appreciate what we single ladies put up with
