New uses for an old metal oil tank?

Mr Peppermint has been offered an old metal oil tank - 6 foot long and 4 foot by 4 foot. We've been racking our brains and we cannot think of an alternative use for it. Which pains us greatly as we do like recycle - especially when it's free

Any ideas? Or would it be more trouble than it's worth?

Problem would be the oil residue, but if you could clean it really well than it would make a water butt.

We are a bit concerned that we won't be able to clean it that well. Mr Peppermint could clean it at work (steam cleaning) but I'm not sure how we'd be able to make sure it is totally clean enough for water.

Cut it in half, and make two raised beds, each 6'x4', and 2' deep.

OH did mention cutting it in half for raised beds I've never grown parnsips but I do seem to have acquired 3 packets of seeds in the last month

Much as I'd love a barbecue - we only get about ten windless days a year up here (and I think we've had most of that quota already this year).

A tad breezy for barbecues (wind speed 138 mph in the last big storm ).

We could use the tank as a wind break.

If you cut it in half, watch out for the cut edges. In the winter you could cover them with polycarbonate sheets and turn them into coldframes.

If there's enough oil left in it and you plant potatoes, you never know, you might grow chips
