If you cut it in half, watch out for the cut edges. In the winter you could cover them with polycarbonate sheets and turn them into coldframes.
Last week Mr P made a cold frame with a salvaged window and some scrap timber - with the base made to fit to size of the window. Now you've got him thinking of how to make a top to fit an oil tank base
I've got an old oil drum at the lottie, my mind was split 50/50 as to whether to get a mate to slice it in half to make a barbeque or get them to turn it into an oven. I'm now thinking oven. I've got an open fire thing already that we do barbies on (not like that), so think an enclosed one would be good.....just imagine taking your bread dough with you in the morning and come dinner be eating freshly baked rolls......I want Spring NOW. Oil drum, horse poo, loads of cardboard boxes and now two new fruit trees!
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx
I want spring now too. A new cold frame. Four ice cream tubs of seeds (for the next four months). Two new pairs of gardening gloves. A load of scrap pallets and now it looks like we have an oil tank project.
And no daylight hours in the evening here yet Wild windy weather forecast for us this weekend.
Di, light oil can if the temperature is right evaporate into a gaseous form, mix this with the right amount of air, add source of ignition and the scientific name is 'BOMB'.
There have been several incidents in the past where people have applied a 'gas axe' to a supposedly empty tank and very quickly grown wings.
