Born into a Circus family sooooooo;
From age 8 to 33 Acrobat, Tumbler, Trapeze Artist. 33 onwards an Illusionist Then also in Circus Concessions Manager, Front of House Manager, Wardrobe Mistress and Box Office Manager. Stopped touring in 2005 & worked as a 'customer service operative' [Co op checkout ] for a while. Since 2005 I work in a Theatre Box office & Tourist Information for a local council.
The thread that still runs through life is costume & all sorts of sewing really. I have designed and made costumes for Circus, cabaret, burlesque since I was 17 [now 50!] At the moment I am upholstering the auditorium seats in the theatre, making a black lace gown and ordering lush velvet and gold fringe for entrance drapes of a circus.
When I want some normality I go and talk to the chooks
Wow what an interesting life you have had.
I am Mum first, to five kids, 4 of them grown up, grandma to an 11 year old and new grandbaby due in August. I have two part time jobs, one in large supermarket, one in chocolate shop that also sells cards and gifts.
I am on the allotment committee and field warden for my site.
I am also on the local carnival committee.
Oh yeah and I am a wife lol.
Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
and ends with backache
I resigned/quit my job about 6 years ago to look after our then 6 month old, great in the spring and summer months but miss working when the winter comes, been thinking lately about looking for something early mornings part time. So to sum up I guess I'm a stay at home dad.
Web designer / website usability type person here - work in local government and it's not desperately safe these days. I love my job though, and wouldn't want to do anything different
.... and actually starting to worry that my techno disabilities may have meant the application didn't go through. Why does everything have to be online nowadays?
Have worked in retail, finance and admin in the past. First job at Gas Board in the jurassic period! Tried to get into perfect job by going to uni studying Environmental Science, but 2 years in OH had a mild heart attack. Spent a while trying to sort his paper work out (he's self employed) then got a part-time job as customer service assistant. Have raised 3 kids, 6 cats and am grandma to a lovely dog.
Strangely yesterday he asked me if I would work for him on a permanent basis as he knows I hate my job and he's struggling with the admin involved with some of his projects. Still thinking about it.
He says I'll have to obey. So I looked that word up in the dictionary
Trained in theoretical physics but didn't go into it, filing/admin, phone holiday bookings, vehicle demo admin on phones, admin for electricity company, receptionist, teacher, 11-18 physics and general science 11-16, computer games level design (redundant), now bringing two wee ones.
I am a retired treacle bender, who retrained as a professional scrounger of state hand outs...
Honestly though, after many years in retail food management, i had to go on long term sick due to arthritic pain in my neck, back and hands.
I keep myself fit (ish) by growing my own veg, but have to limit how much time i spend working in the garden and keep taking frequent tea breaks to rest my hands and back.
