I spent 20-odd years doing boring Admin, but learning a lot. I also had a few part-time Pub jobs to pay for my equine habit. Then I had a change and ventured into Commercial Landscaping, and ultimately, redundancy, at the decline of the Housing Market. I now divide my time between housework, dog, cat and my equine obsession, and supporting my OH in his venture into the world of self-employment. To keep the wolf from the door, I pull weeds for people. I should get a 'proper' job, but I prefer being stress-free and sane - even if borderline skint most of the time.
All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment Freelance shrub butcher and weed removal operative.
I'm an accountant at a computer firm and I spend most of my time wishing I had been a vet and wondering just when I am going to be made redundant .... I've been on notice 3 times in the last 3 years......very demoralising.
In my spare time I help run a local hedgehog rescue charity.
I'm a Service Engineer, repairing a wide variety of machines in various customers sites throughout Scotland. Luckily I only work Monday to Friday but it also means I don't get much chance to work on the plot during the week, only at weekends.
I used to be a scientist, working with infectious diseases.
With my real strength being in numbers, in the 2000's I went part-time as a scientist and part-time as a financial market trader. More recently I decided to quit the "day job" and be my own boss as a full-time (or as necessary) financial market trader.
I work in a nursery..the plant variety Nearly a year now. It's very hard heavy work, outside in all weathers...and I still love it.
Was a pub chef up till last yearish, apart from a spell as head cook in a nursing home, and ****-shifter (sorry groom) in a riding stables.
Like G4 I have a serious equine addiction...
Well done Di, hope you have a long and happy stay there.
Taff, hope the drugs you make aren't of the home grown funny plant sort
