If I ever use a supermarket it will never be Tesco, we both boycott them for so many reasons, can't stand them, some of the others are pretty bad but they are to worst. We have an express shop just near us and I'll always walk past it to go to the COOP up the road which is about the same size.

She makes the comment that she deserves decent food and if she puts something on the table that she wouldn't have fed my dad then she's not being fair on herself. Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

We get our shopping delivered by Waitrose each week (OH cant stand going to supermarkets, he's another trolley rage sufferer and I'm not too keen either). We get mostly store cupboard supplies and wine (they sell a rose and a white from a local Hampshire vineyard). Meat (and veg when we have run out of our own) come from a local farm shop. It's not the cheapest but the quality is great and most of their produce comes from local suppliers.

We shop in Waitrose, because the alternative is the new T$%o, and I refuse to shop there.
At least half of the things we buy are 'reduced for quick sale' (sometimes almost given away), and much of the rest is own brand.
We do have a market, and I try to buy most fruit-and-veg there, and cheese eggs and bacon also come from the local market most of the time.
        We don't use sliced bread.
Basically the only 'brand' stuff we use regularly is condiments, plus tea and coffee (although the ground coffee is Waitrose own brand).
The reduced stuff means meal planning is done based on what we've got.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
