Sorry, I didn't mean to divert the thread to the other shows I'm drooling at - I wish I could go to all of them. The good food show is on at the same time as Gardeners world live, hence me thinking it'd be great if the Edible food show could be on at the same time, since they are so close together.
This is what happens when I get distracted. Mayhem ensues.

We enjoyed it and yes there was some gimmiky stuff but i think this was offset by the 'serious' stuff there, WOLF had a good offer on their tools (which I think are some of the best on the market) and will be looking out for them again this year, overall i thought it was a good day (and we did spend the whole day there) and am looking forward to the bigger show this year.

Fair enough but I'm not here to invest in their future

but if we all did that then there wouldn't be a show and I think there's a place for one. GW is all very well but it's expensive and if it's like the tv programme it is more biased towards growing pretties .......

That's not the point though, I can't afford to pay out money for something which doesn't give me the required return in the hope that one day it will do. It's not like I'll get discounted entry in the future for giving them money as I would a charity. I agree that such things should be encouraged but I'd not buy a mag I didn't want as the idea was good so why should I attend a show?

I enjoy GW show but you're correct. It is commercial and it is for flower gardening, not really GYO. Malvern on the other hand has a GYO angle to it.

My local gardening club in Carmarthenshire may be running a coach trip to the show on the Sunday. This was being discussed last December and I'm not sure whether its going ahead or not. Waiting to hear from them.. If it is, and they'll have me, I'll be there on Sunday. But no promises at the mo.

We are going on Saturday, went to the first one last year - it was good. I wonder what it will be like this year.
Fell in love at the last one....two goats and a cockerel ....... best I leave my credit cards at home this time......temptation is worryingly strong.

I gave GW a go a few years ago - was a bit disappointed although I did get to meet the god that is Alan Titchmarsh so that made my year! I did go to Southport as well but found it was just people flogging tat and double glazing - I was so outraged I asked for my money back.

I think I am going to try a farm & country show this year ......

Tatton is nice Piggle and good and local (but rather expensive!). Keep meaning to go to Southport but not so sure now...
