I went out last night to put the recycling out and stood in the freezing cold for 10 minutes listening to the evening song, it appeared to be a singing battle between the thrush and the blackbird, heavenly. If it hadn't been for the fact that I had guests I would have got my coat and sat out there for a longer listen.

I am awake really early most mornings (best time of the day)
5:20am, still dark but the birds are singing!!! even a dove!
I lay there listening to how many different birds I can pick out..... bliss
      I love it!

Woke at 4.15 this morning and lo and behold, there was the dawn chorus, in the pitch black!

We love the sound, but remember, what they are all saying is "this is my patch, B off unless you want to mate with me"

We've been getting a chorus for a while, now. All winter, if you include the cockerel trio that wake us up at 5am. We keep discussing things like coq-au-vin...(we wouldn't really, they're all really sweet boys and live in their bachelor group quite peacefully).
