Like you, Sarah and Mikey, I see no point in winning something for which I have no need. Free tickets to events in distant locations, spring to mind.

Your odds are lowered by an extreme amount because of the hobby many peeps have to go and enter as many competitions they can. These peeps can spend hours and hours a day finding and entering these types of competitions that require no skill to enter. To make it even easier for them, a certain expert in money saving website's forum has thousands of peeps posting up threads leading to the competitions and if a question has to be answered, they will post the answer as well. It's only 10:21am and the said forum for the competitions is already up to 5 pages. Of course there is nothing wrong with this practice, my only gripe is with those who win and then put the prize straight on ebay for its monetary value. That's not really in the spirit of it in my eyes.

So if anyone here has won, then a very big congratulations as you were certainly up against it

I do enter now and again but only on stuff i would actually like to win. As for other competitions, i try to only enter ones that require some skill as this puts off many of the hobbyists. Last year i won 2 VIP tickets to an airshow worth £200. To win them, i had to play a flash game on a website and could only post once, my highest score. I spent a good few hours writing down my score each time and when i hit a score that i couldn't beat for an hour, i knew i would submit any score that did beat it. It took me a couple of days playing on and off, but i did manage to beat it.
