Shed ideas/inspiration

Further to pauls thread on sheds I'm in the process of converting a neighbours dilapidated summerhouse into a shed come greenhouse for the allotment. When I say process I mean I'm just in the planning stages now.. Hoping to start in the next couple of weeks.

I'm not sure if anyone else has built something similar, or adapted something, I've attached a couple of pictures below one of how it looks now and the rest of what is planned, any thoughts at this stage would be very welcome.

You hav'nt shown glazing bars but I'm sure they will be there, looks good. Make sure you get the orientation right and you should be well away. Cheers, Tony.

If you made the shed square (not L shape) and cut away a corner for the door to make it a pentagon
you'd have easier access into the GH and more space in the shed. Hope you can imagine what I mean?

Looking good Mikey, though I have to say looks more like a rebuild than a conversion, thats a lot of work.

I don't think the visuals are making it clear enough so I've attached a few more!!!

I'm using the existing 2 x 2 frame of the summerhouse, and just taking off and cutting back the shiplap panelling from it. Inside then I'm intending on making a bed around the outside walls which will be 450mm deep inorder to plant in (using the not required shiplap The shed will face north west on the shed side so the polycarb will be in full sun all day.

I thought it might be a good idea to put a water butt on the rear side where the shed is fed from guttering off that side of the roof, and have a solar panelled drip feed irrigation system sending the roof water into the greenhouse beds. That way if I can't get to the lottie to water it won't matter.

I still don't understand the shed quarter! Is it an open area and the door shown is the one from the outside?

Yes, the door enters into a part enclosed shed area, which is open internally to the greenhouse.

The polycarb is obscure anyway so you can't see in through it.

As long as the shed bit is at the North end and you have loads of ventilation it should be fine.

If you were utilising raised beds the bottom exterior woodwork would lose a lot of light unless the beds were the same depth?
You could either line it with upended paving flags or cover woodwork with visqueen?

Nonsense, you are not slow VC, had you not brought it up I wouldn't have thought about ventilation until I was building which would have been too late.

I've decided to do a staggered ceiling, as this will strengthen the frame structure, I can drill holes in the cross frame timbers reducing their weight at a diameter appropriate to fit the size of a cork at regular intervals along its length. This should allow me the means of varying the ventilation, it will mean though that I will need roughly 200 corks, how on earth will I come by those.

200 corks! When do you need them? I like to have a target!
Real cork corks seem to split after removal (though it might be the way I do it), Would plastic ones be better? Most of the gut-rot I drink has screw tops anyway!
