never heard of the stuff but found this on google What is alum? . Also found this on wikianswers "Alum can be found at a grocery store in the spice selection and where all the powder things are because its mostly sold in powder form

Nicos, must it be alum? Have you thought of checking taxidermy suppliers? This one has a tanning kit for £29.99, one kit tans 4 sheepskins or equivalent quantity of other pelts,and keeps indefinitely in a sealed container.
